George C. Clapp and family papers, 1858-1971.

Later correspondence and papers (1905-1971) document activities of successive generations of the family including George F. Clapp's reminiscence (1943) of a visit to the Clapp farm by the James brothers prior to the Northfield bank raid, Warner H. Clapp's work on the Panama Canal (1910-1914), family members' service during both World Wars, and Franklin Clapp's farming venture in Georgia (1950s). Correspondence, genealogical data, military records, reminiscences, speeches (undated and 1884, 1888), a sermon (1891), and a diary that comprise a genealogical and historical record of one of the earliest families to settle in Le Sueur County (Minn.).
